An organization for the midwifery profession. We produce a unified voice for the midwifery profession, encourage midwives to reach their packed potential and set professional practice and education standards. We are guided by research evidence that pregnant women and mothers gain from having access to midwifery care throughout their childbearing experience. We are a national organization with members in all states and territories. The role of the Board is to ensure we are carefully governed and that our members’ contributions are wisely used. The Board is also responsible for setting our strategic direction and for ensuring this is followed through. We also have a 8member Council which consists of an elected member from each state and territory. The Council brings issues from the members in the states and territories, provides advice to the Board and undertakes specific activities, including managing the ABM Awards program. We have a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who is responsible for the operational management of our organization, including directly employing and managing the staff, and ensuring the strategic directions are implemented. We also have a number of Advisory Committees and Busy Groups that provide advice and promote the labor of our organization.
