The Canberra Imaging Group is fully owned by radiologists and nuclear medicine physicians who work in the practice and are long established in the local community. We perform all regular imaging of the body including neurological, oncology, musculoskeletal, and vascular (CT angiography) along with CT guided interventional procedures such as spinal injections and biopsies. Our Deakin site offers an industry leading ultra low dose 160 slice CT with advanced cardiac capabilities, and an increased gantry aperture to cater for larger and claustrophobic patients. CIA provides premature morning and late night appointments along with Saturday appointments at Deakin to produce flexibility for our patients. Mammography plays a key role in the premature detection of breast cancer. This branch of medicine uses radiation to provide information about the body’s anatomy of the functioning of specific organs. The tests are painless and most scans expose patients to only minimal amounts of radiation and bear an effective means of examining whether some tissues are functioning properly. A PET scan is a very sound and customary procedure. However, ultrasound can offer precious diagnostic information about many other parts of the body and disease processes. This includes imaging of abdominal organs, muscles and other organs referred to as little parts. Ultrasound is also frequently impaired to guide the placement of needles for biopsies and injections. He has developed a career in interventional radiology techniques in the years since then both at The Canberra hospital and within Canberra Imaging Group. Her special interests include CT colonography, MRI imaging and musculoskeletal imaging and intervention. After spending his initial hospital years at St George Hospital he carried out two years of training in anesthetics and intensive care. He joined the Canberra Imaging Group in 2005. He was the beginning radiologist to perform all radiology training in Canberra and remain as a consultant in Canberra. Dr Thomson has been a consultant radiologist in Canberra since 1998, and has developed recognized interests in musculoskeletal and spinal radiology, as healthy as expertise in musculoskeletal and spinal interventional radiology. He has exceptional interest in nuclear oncology, nuclear cardiology, SPECTCT and nuclear endocrinology.
