We made new friends and strengthened existing relationships. We now donate our employees cultural awareness training that is specially tailored to our organization’s key focus areas. It will also offer a fresh set of opportunities for BBS to contribute to the education, training and employment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in our community. Some are stylish or past RAP Occupied Group members and others are our community sector partners. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who have attended our events or participated in our programs and services have provided feedback which has helped to guide our journey. The BBS Executive Team, guided by CEO, Dina Horne along with the 350 paid and unpaid employees of BBS, share a strong vision for a connected, active and mighty community and this vision is clear in the inspirational work that BBS undertakes within the community on a daily basis. The tomorrow of BBS is strengthened through a solid commitment to our people, participants and the community. We yield ongoing training development. As healthy as providing on the job training, we also yield employees with a range of professional and personal development opportunities, both internally and externally. Our employees’ professional development is a priority at BBS and we have designed most of our workplace systems around the achievement of our employees’ professional development goals. Because we have so many interesting and different roles within our organization, we are able to give our people a career partnership to donate them the experience and opportunities they need to attain their career goals. We trust that happy employees are productive employees, and happiness starts in the home. So if you labor for BBS you can be assured that you will be occupied in a glad definite environment. In addition, BBS incorporates the sharing and networking of both paid and unpaid employees in our activities, such as Induction, BBS Training Programs, Celebrations and BBS events to name a few. Those assisted include flimsy aged people and people with a disability, their carers, families or other people with an assessed need. Assist people who have difficulty to attain this on their own. Assistance could include being a gregarious visitor with a parent, caring for children, offering information, assisting with feasible tasks. Is an informal weekly group for people for whom English is not their beginning language. Assist participants with language skills and familiarization of services and activities in the community. Activities chosen by group members include gentle exercise, guest speakers, outings, and recreational games. Volunteers aid in a supportive and feasible way within the program. The focus is to work alongside individuals and urge their independence and access to skills and community involvement. Since our inception in 1970, Belconnen Community Service Inc has had a splendid reputation for strengthening the capacity of the community to care for all individuals, no matter what their needs. We have earned this reputation because of the people who work for us, both paid and unpaid, and as such, our commitment to our people is a high priority.
