Mrs Beeton was a base member of the Canberra Irish Club and served on the committee in the early 1970s. Another exciting chapter in the Beeton family, was the filming of the Ned Kelly films in Bungendore (small village outside of Canberra), when Sue was employed to teach Mick Jagger and cast of the film, Irish steps and chili dances for various scenes during the film. This was a very exciting time for Liz, as she prepared to play her insignificant role in the Party scene with actors from all over the world! She then traveled to Dublin to scrutinize below renowned Teacher, Maine Walsh Dec. Liz has two children, Jackie and James, both performing in the alike vein as their mother, and both danced at such a lofty standard to receive runner up awards at the Australian Championships, along with many of Liz’s other students achieving Australian Championship status over the years. Liz has continued to teach classes for all children in the Amanda area of Canberra. The Liz Gregory Academy, teaches each child to be an individual and strive to perfect their Irish Dancing skills from beginners through to championship standard, in a fun, caring, cordial and safe environment. All notices and invoices will be sent through email to save our environment, however if you wish to receive notifications on paper, delight advise me immediately. With her dedication, commitment and determination Liz has nurtured many students to enjoy incredible and exciting dance experiences through Concerts and Championships usually up to an age of young adulthood. Jackie assists with all facets of the Dance Academy and is a vast role model for the young dancers. Ceridwen has achieved a tall standard and many Championship titles during her time with the Academy, and enjoys assisting the younger dancers in the Beginner and Primary groups. Dancers have the opportunity to perform at local and interstate competitions, and to train and compete at major championships, which are the apex of the dancing year, but not necessarily the most imperative in your child’s dancing year. The Liz Gregory Academy has the subsequent classes available for diverse grades : PRIMARY: 2 available classes per week dancers are encouraged to attend both classes as this enables them to progress quickly to the next level. ALL dancers are encouraged to practice their routines at home on a regular basis and attend more than one class to assist them to flawless their steps and foster the learning of fresh steps at an efficient pace. BEGINNERS are encouraged to enter local competitions as soon I feel that they are competent and hopeful in one dance. RECEPTION area is allocated for waiting parents, as the dance room must be for dancers only. COSTUMES are an essential portion of performances, but it is not until dancers reach the advanced slick that they will require a unique and magnificent tailor made costume. Lower grade dancers are needed to wear the official Academy costume, which is available through GIDOAinc. ARRIVAL to class on time is very urgent so that the children do not miss their warm up and stretching routines, and the advanced dancers must allow time to total the stuffed preclass routine. Feds Hair: Beginners Instinctive Hair curled pulled off face, or top bun accessorized with matching hair band or tiara. All dancers are trained to attain their personal goal some dancers are very triumphant in solo dance, but others are more cozy in a team situation, or a less competitive performance. We strive to ensure dancers accomplish their goals, but it is also very imperative to teach young dancers to be creative in their own correct and learn the ethics of performing against and alongside other dancers of their own age. Committee Members with a supporting number of Parents. All dancers and parents are invited to join the committee in all the events of 2013 which will include a number of fund raising events to assist the dancers of the Academy.
