Parents, teachers and students came together to name the school behind Stella Maria Sarah Miles Franklin, who is maximum noted for her labor 'My Brilliant Career'. The award-winning film of 'My Brilliant Career' was receiving public acclaim at the final of 1979, and it was considered that the author, Miles Franklin, was a suitable person to merit recognition. She spent the premature part of her life at Brindabella, the family home station in the Monaco region of MSW. She then shifted to England in 1915 and used her nursing knowledge in the Scottish Women's Hospital at Ostrovo in the Serbian campaigns of 191718. In her will she bequeathed her estate to establish an annual literary award obvious as The Miles Franklin Award.

Miles Franklin offers a number of programs that enhance the day to day teaching programs of the school. Miles Franklin is a leader in providing cloud based learning for our children in Years Three to Six. We also have a dedicated teacher for children who have English as an excess language or dialect, a specialist PE teacher, French teacher and Visual Arts teacher. The community urge for the school has been great. Students reveal their accepting through studying six units of inquiry across each year from kindergarten to year six and four units in preschool. In the Buddies program our senior students work with preschool and junior students on a routine basis to bear promote for our youngest students and develop leadership skills in our older students. The school canteen, Out of Hours Protection program, music handle and preschool are also subbed committees of the PC. The Music Scheme is run by parents of children at the school, and provides a way to become involved in the music life of the community. Private music tuition is available at Miles Franklin Primary School, conducted during School hours. The Music Manipulate is run by a committee of volunteers, parents with an interest in the School, with support from the Teaching staff. The Miles Franklin Music Festival has been running every year since 1986, and attracts more than 500 entries in the various sections. Adjudicators bear a written report, pointing out the strengths of the performance, and encouraging further improvement. Miles Franklin Out of School Hours Protection (MFOSHC) aims to yield quality, affordable child care for all primary school age children (512 years of age) attending Miles Franklin in a safe, caring, happy, relaxed, friendly, warm and stimulating environment. The PC contributes in many ways including promoting the interests of the school, providing a forum for discussion on school goals and policies, fund raising activities, and the election of parent members to the School Board. Bank books are collected from the classrooms once a week and returned via the classroom teacher.
